Infinium Strike Game Play Tips Part 1

ice.png

Infinium Strike has launched on multiple digital distribution sites, including Steam, GOG, and Green Man Gaming. Without any spoilers, here's some tips, strategies, and tactics to beat back the invading Wrog.

Basic Tips:

1. In order to utilize each turret effectively, understand that each of the weapons turrets only fires to a certain sector range, listed in their information when you purchase them. The color of the Wrog portal that opens designates the type of ship coming through. Match attacking ships to the turrets.

2. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. The player ship, the turrets, and the fleet ships are all upgrade-able. Fleet upgrades are tricky because they are expensive, but doing so pays out down the road.

3. Figure out tactics early. It always pays off to know what the trade-offs are. The Portal Warning System in the bottom left corner and the tactical map help players see what is coming their way.

4. Upgrading Freedom Strike repairs armor. Time your upgrades for when you need repairs to maximize the effectiveness of armor repair. However, waiting too long means valuable SuperTech and additional turrets are not available. It is a balancing act, and that is the main point of the game: The tactical effectiveness will go up the more you can balance the 3 main combat systems: Turrets, Fleet, and SuperTech.

5. Well-timed deployment of Star Voids can prevent a lot of damage from projectiles.

6. Don't forget to utilize your Super Armor when needed. Regenerating 100% shields can prevent damage as well as provide resources to the Shield Shot SuperTech.

Advanced Tips:

1. Try to pair the Shield Shot and Super Salvage together. This results in an infinium windfall. Similarly, try to pair Shield Shot and Super Shield together to get back the lost shield used in the Shield Shot immediately.

2. Typically, the Wrog attacks slow down during the end and beginning of a level. It might be a good time to upgrade the Fleet!

3. The pre-set turret banks cameras are the most effective way to play harder levels. Admiring the deep space view can be deadly!

We hope you have fun with Infinium Strike, and if you are mastering it, give Deep Space Arcade mode a try to see how you stack up on the Leaderboards. Everybody gets the same pattern of Wrog enemies, so staying alive longer means you are better at killing the Wrog.

Happy hunting!

Infinium Strike has Launched!

15% Off Launch Pricing, #3 New Top Seller!

After 3 years of development, Codex Worlds Corp. has completed its first product, Infinium Strike. The Codex Worlds team is excited to have consumers join the fight against the Wrog invaders.

Codex Worlds was founded with the goal of creating original, immersive games to appeal to casual and expert gamers. This is a tall order, but we wanted to make sure players of varying skill levels can have fun with our products.

With the goal of originality, we wanted to add an element of arcade action to the tried-and-true tower defense genre. With a potent fleet of ships and many SuperTech options, relentless attacks from 4 directions (lanes) produces a feeling of high-paced action mixed with strategy and tactics.

For the wide range of action/strategy game players, we've included a casual difficulty mode called Recruit, in which players can play through the entire campaign and earn achievements along the way. Those who finish the game on standard difficulty (called Captain) will be challenged to finish both Commander and, ultimately, Admiral difficulty levels. These harder levels are not just enemies with more hit points; in Commander difficulty, your tactics must adapt, as you're restricted to using either SuperTech abilities or the TSF fleet -- not both. In Admiral difficulty, the ante is further upped, as the Wrog are able to deploy the dreaded Super Wipe, which can annihilate an entire bank of turrets with a single, devastating shot.

For those who are competitive, the Deep Space Arcade mode provides the same pattern of enemy ships for all players, like an arcade game, to see who really is the best. Find out who survives the longest!

Check out Infinium Strike, have fun, tell your friends, and let us know how you like it in our forums! We are always open to feedback on our titles.

We are deep into production on our second title, Battlecursed. Check it out at battlecursed.com. More announcements coming soon!

The Wrog War continues, and we need more recruits!

Update from the Writing Team

Hey all!

Our Booth at GDC 2016

Our Booth at GDC 2016

With the GDC hoopla out of the way, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself. I’m Ed Kaczynski, and I’m the Lead Writer here at Codex Worlds. My team and myself have worked diligently to help bring the world of Infinium Strike to life, and with Battlecursed recently announced, we have more content on the horizon to look forward to!

First, a little about me: I’ve worked in indie game development for about seven years, doing story, setting, and character development across three different titles of varying genres. I’ve been gaming since I was a kid, working off of an old Commodore 64, and later, upgrading to an IBM-clone with an overclocked 286 processor. Yes, you read that correctly.

The game that really hooked me, however, was Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. It was my first taste of how a video game could present itself uniquely, draw you into a story, and create an entire world that made you want to explore it. Since then, I knew that was what I wanted to do: to be a storyteller and a world-builder, and leave people clamoring for more. Some of my favorite titles of all time are (unsurprisingly) heavily setting- and story-based: Thief: The Dark Project, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy III, Fallout, etc.

I wanted to touch base with all of you - especially our Kickstarter supporters - in order to quickly update you all with some of what we’re working on right now.

  1. Kickstarter Rewards: Plot detailing and planning is complete, and we have entered the writing phase of the digital novella. We’ll have a first draft soon, as well as some samples for all of you to enjoy!

  2. The graphic novel is currently in the planning stage as well. This will very likely enter its first draft stage after the digital novella has passed first draft and entered into revisions.

  3. We’re currently in the process of fleshing out the stage and story for Battlecursed and working with the art team here to help bring that world to life.

  4. We are scheduled to release Infinium Strike in the 2nd half of 2016. We received a huge amount of beta feedback, which resulted in re-balancing the game, adding a new turret, the Warp Turret, and adding dozens of updates to the interface. Thanks again for your patience. We believe responding to feedback was worth the extra time we have taken in developing our first title!

With two different IPs with vastly different narrative styles, things are quickly getting exciting here! I hope to have more to share with you all in the near future!

Shameless plug: My collection of short stories, “The Doors of the Dauphine’s Palace” is currently available in print and Kindle versions here. For fans of Lovecraftian horror or dramatic short fiction, it’s a good read, if I do say so myself!

Infinium Strike Blasts to Xbox One in Q2 2016

New Missions Playable at PAX South

AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 5, 2016 – Infinium Strike, the Kickstarter-funded strategy-action hybrid from former members of Ubisoft now forming Codex Worlds, will launch on Xbox One in Q2 2016 in addition to the previously announced PC, Mac and Linux releases.

PAX South attendees can preview the space-tactical defense game at booth 17088 and be the first to play new missions not included in the open beta.

Codex Worlds listened to player feedback from the open beta and implemented a number of changes to game balance, mission design and interface. Alterations include over-hauling the controller system, tweaking the graphic effects and adding more feedback to players for destroyed weapons systems.

Set hundreds of years in the future, Infinium Strike takes place in the middle of an intergalactic war between humanity and the Wrog, a race of sentient alien ships that will stop at nothing until mankind is exterminated. For decades the Wrog have won battle after battle, and all hope appeared lost until the discovery of a powerful resource known as Infinium.

Built with the rare living-metal, Infinium, the battlecarrier Freedom Strike is mankind’s last chance to defeat the Wrog. As chief weapons officer of Freedom Strike, the player is given a wide selection of weapons systems, fleet ships and cutting edge technology designed to take down surrounding enemy forces.

Infinium Strike will include a Campaign Mode in which players rise through the ranks from a young soldier to Admiral in their battle against the Wrog; and an Endless ‘Deep Space’ Arcade Mode where players will fight off a relentless stream of Wrog invaders for as long as possible.

“After pouring our hearts into Infinum Strike for three years, tons of gamers joined our open beta and loved what they saw,” said Dexter Chow, creative director, Codex Worlds. “With such overwhelmingly positive feedback, we want to put Infinium Strike in the hands of as many gamers as possible, so we’re excited to announce its upcoming release on Xbox One.”

Infinium Strike Release Update

At Codex Worlds, we have remained committed to the beta process and taking feedback on everything from game play comments, to art comments. to interface comments. As we prepared to launch in Q4, we looked at our feedback, looked at our goals, and finally looked at the status of our product. After much debate, we have decided the benefits to the product are worth pushing the release date back to Q1 of 2016. With the extra few months, here are some of the improvements you will see in the game.
